“I have known Jared as a player, student and instructor. In all three of these areas he has and is a consistent performing professional person. What separates Jared are his elite people skills and his passion for the game of hockey.”
Jared Nightingale- Cheboygan, Michigan
Michigan State University 2002-06
Pro Hockey Player (12 seasons)
Assistant Coach of the Chicago Blackhawks affiliate, Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League.
Our head instructor brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and passion for the game of hockey. Growing up in Cheboygan, Michigan, Jared first fell in love with the game by playing in the cities outdoor rink. He began playing house league hockey all the way until the age of 15, when he left home and went on to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, with hopes to improve his game and someday play college hockey. That dream became a reality when he laced up the skates for Michigan State University, from 2002-2006.
Jared played 12 years of professional hockey and retired in 2017. Since then, he has coached in the USHL with the Omaha Lancers, Team USA Under 17s, the OHL (Saginaw and Flint) and currently in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs.
“ I look forward to helping our campers learn and develop the tools needed to get their game to the next level. Great Lakes Hockey will offer first hand how to prepare on and off the ice.”
